Great work on water and some sexy looking fish.

ancient music style is good.
a bit short though.

very good demo with great music as i've come to expect from irvin now.. also; bonus for pulling off that tricky "followup to the previous great demo" with ease.

a bit short and just a few scenes.

really neat, too much bumpmapping for my taste though, but still a thumb up, keep up the good work!

i like the waves, but bubbles sux.
added on the 2004-09-20 10:32:44 by ninja ninja
waves just dont look realistic. mainly coz of the bumpmap. And the bumpmap on the fishes is odd too, as they are frikkin' shiny :P Apart from this it was an okish prod, so a piggy.
Not really my taste but I liked the waves and the music. I expected something better from Outracks ;)

I cant see it again, but this was one of the better entries of the party.. and it doesnt contain humour... thumb up to that!

"Failed to create stuff".

And also here, please provide a software vertex processing fallback, it's only ONE friggin' line of code, damnit.
added on the 2004-09-20 14:06:29 by kb_ kb_
kb: it requires pixelshaders aswell, so swvp-fallback is kind of useless...
(vs1.1 + ps1.1)

a ball in a ball!
rulez added on the 2004-09-20 15:13:31 by Kauto Kauto
kusma: Get a clue. There are actually cards capable of PS2.0 but lacking hardware vertex processing. Like eg. the newer Intel ExtremeGraphics models.

... which I happen to have to use in my work PC ATM.
added on the 2004-09-20 15:26:20 by kb_ kb_
A decent production, I think. The water effects were nice, but the fish didn't really look like they fit in quite well.. Nice music, though.
added on the 2004-09-20 15:50:52 by Preacher Preacher
kb and everyone else having a problem with "creating stuff". i made an exe with software vertexprocessing. It should work now on cards only supporting ps1.1 but not vs1.1., but it will be freaking slow. http://www.outracks.net/div/lbow(software_vertexprc).exe

kb: since when Intel should be considered as serious GPU manufacturer ? :p
added on the 2004-09-20 18:07:44 by Zest Zest
zest, ever since shitloads of manufacturers use their GPUs. in laptops, for instance.
added on the 2004-09-20 18:12:15 by skrebbel skrebbel
actually, in 2002 intel had approximately 60% marketshare in integrated graphics.

thank you for this fun, fun fact! just because they're huge doesn't mean they're to be taken serious ;)

why did you included "Hybel.jpg" in your final archive?

strange direction, music is ok, waves looks good but can be improved, fish (wich is good) is too much small, cameras in water can be improved, space scene is ok, looks like a 64K
pigface.
Duckers,

I'm getting the text when downloading the original way, The right click "save as" only makes a HTML file.
added on the 2004-09-26 11:33:11 by Mike 3D Mike 3D
I got a html file too. Still, its not hard to rename it to .rar

Demo.. the planet part looked really 64k style to me, but was still ok. The waves were great, maybe the bumpmap was too static tho - how about adding 2 bumps moving in different directions, like the clouds on the planet? Also, i got a lot of clipping on the waves - there was just a patch of wave in the middle of the screen in some parts. Is that normal?? Fish ruled... i love bump maps. Music was nice too. Overall an easy rulez :D
rulez added on the 2004-09-26 11:49:18 by psonice psonice
psonice: thanks for that feedback. it actually IS two bumpmaps moving in different directions, but it still looks like crap. mike
wtsoftware: just download the html file and rename to rar and you'll be going
added on the 2004-09-26 13:03:46 by Duckers Duckers
it wasn't crap, just it could look better ;) It looks damned good until you study it close.
added on the 2004-09-26 14:13:30 by psonice psonice
quite ok but unpolished

The water effects (bump mapping, caustics, & such) were cool, but the overall demo seems lacking. The concept is interesting, since it's rare to see demos with such a subtle deeper meaning. On the other hand, the scene design and camera motion were pretty bad. I propose a new term for this type of thing: coderdesign.

The demo rulez anyhow.

irvin: it's just no longer a taboo.

anyway, there are some nice touches to this release, but I would be a cheapass to thumb it up. I'm saving it up for serious outracks hotness.
added on the 2004-10-09 04:55:11 by Shifter Shifter
Nice idea, but carried out badly. And I wonder why you need programable shaders when the graphics end up as ugly as first generation 3Dfx style.
added on the 2004-10-14 16:49:08 by T$ T$
short and looks like done in hurry...

Fine prod, but too short. Irvin once again amazes me, but it's not enough to make this a ruling production.
nice concept, but a bit incoherent stylewise.
the thumb is for the music! :-)
