according to several reliable sources, this is the first intro EVER. i mean, sure, nothing happens on the screen, there is no music, even the bear isn't moving... but if something has crucial historical value, then this!

Thumbs up for that.
OMFG!1

DDR Ownage
that bear brought me pitfall 2, so here's the thumb
DDR? you seem to forget that there also was a western part of berlin.
1103 did the first cracks and inscribed the games, but this BCS pic sure was the very first "intro" 1982.
It's sort of weird to see this after 23 years but back then this small "nothing" caused a sensation.
A little later scene had scrollers, moving sprites and now there are demos from Farbrausch. ;)
Greetings to our old pals BCS and CFB.

At 1 years old.. this must have rocked :)
so thumb up for berliners =)
true bass
so this one started all this madness (enough reason to thumb down)
my father didn't even met my mom those days.
my father didn't even met my mom those days.
Man, I never seen anything like this! Look how many colors and how huge the resolution is! I coulcn't do anything like this.
:-)
:-)
great
heh, did this bear really look _that_ ugly? :D amazing how easily small kids can be wowed.
I don't like Berlin. Bonn stays the capital in our hearts. Currywurst tastes a lot better in the Ruhrpott. Forget about Berlin. ;)
history
That freaks.
I was 1 year old back then, so I could easly write this, but I was busy because of picking up the chicks...
thank you.
Old crap..:)
Midfit: Berlin Currywurst rocks! :D Ever tried the Konopke Currywurst here in Berlin? It beats the shit out of the Ruhrpott Currywurst. :-)
Haha!
:)
thx havoc =)
haha =)
LOL!
Oh yeah, and I was 3 ;-)
No you were and are the palooka in person... Ehmm..
Hail to teh Living Legend! ;)
haha :) and wow 1982 :)
i do agree that konopke beats the shit out of any other wurst.
level 2: find the eastern pendant on kc85/2.
level 2: find the eastern pendant on kc85/2.
Haha. Great!
After 24 years our fooking/cacking 1982's bear seems to be still alive and cacking.
As most people used to say it looks more like a dog or kangaroo our loader-dog and the puking kangaroo part in the 1987 Amiga "Antitrax Megademo" hinted to this creature.
Difficult to describe, but this big-pixel bear didn't look that ugly in 1982.
Apple II pictures from the same period used to look significant worse. ;)
The whole picture is just the heraldic animal on the city arms of Berlin/Germany and no nazi symbol like some non german people thought in the early 80s.
Bear: "Ich bin ein Berliner" :D
Cheers

They can really say "Erster" ;)
Konopke against Ruhrpott 0:10 - Mein Schwanz ist länger 2006'er Edition ;D
Great for the year 1982!
Respectz but they could have been used hires mode :) I wonder which graphic utility they used for that pic.
Grüße aus Ibbenbüren!
so thats the origin of the pig, I mean bear.
Amazing.
RESPECT
doggy looks hungry ;)
Respect.
Fantastic history piece! I was six and i think i already had my Philips Videopac with cool games like Stone Slinger.
The secret of Berlin's Currywurst Success (BCS) is that even if the Ruhrpottlers manage to beat Konopke, there's still Krasselt's Currywurst in Steglitz that's even better. So go eat a dick Bonn!
in old we worship
karhu sanoo murmurmur murmurmur
:D
"Groundbreaking".
Now that's fucking old :)
to quote indiana jones:
"it belongs in a museum!"
"it belongs in a museum!"
Thumb up for the start :)
respect, i was back then 5 Years old =)
what radiantx and ami said :)
wayfinder: what!?! :-P
I think it's from 1984 or at most 83 but not 1982, that's impossible.
why impossible? afaik the c64 was released 1982. so unlikely, yes, impossible, not ;)
82 in USA, 83 in Europe, i find it hard to believe that some little boy pulled this without docs or even tools before the machine was even available. This is most probably this one.
History
Quote:
1982: I did some coding on an Atari, which I sold. It was an adventure parser and a painting tool done in Basic. The money I earned was my way to the C64, meaning the archived Atari financed my first C64. A positive moment for me was when the father of a classmate who was working for Apple, was able to through his connections, obtain a C64 on Christmas 1982. Now on the C64 I started to work with my classmate CJW (later Hurricane) as a team. Plutonium Crackers 2001 (PC) was born.
Some weeks later our best friends Don and CPU joined our small crew and this inner circle of four people remained the same ever since. Other members like Lord Vader (who did most of the BCS cracks) and Extermer were also joining early in the piece. Extermer, our musician back then did tunes for games like Turrican 1, Rock'n Roll and many more. Search for "Stoned Mozart Tune" on CSDb and you'll find out what Extermer was able to do in the early 80s.
Some of our close friends/posse in Berlin started their C64 scene-careers nearly at the same time. I'm speaking of Cracking Force Berlin (CFB) later a member of Flash Cracking Group (FCG) and Berlin Cracking Service (BCS). We all kept closely connected over the years and we still are friends, 24 years later.
(Source: Interview with Alien of Plutonium)
And from the same interview:
Quote:
The very first cracks were done by 1103 aka OJO (Oliver Joppich). He later became the "J" in JEDI. This was the time of OTD, Oleander, Kotzbrocken (later in JEDI,GCS), Antiram, Headbanger, Schweinepocke, ADJ and a few more. But there were no intros in front of the cracks. It was common to name the disk or to inscribe it in the in-game high-score tables, but no intros.
The first intro was a picture of the Berlin Bear from the city flag and was released by BCS in 1982. It was a kind of co-production by several people and may look absurd today, but it was a different time.
He's most probably mixing years, it happens to me too sometimes.
A quick look at this intro file shows that it's coming from the game HERO as mentioned earlier as the end of the file shows the name JEDI at address $280f anyway.

I remember that goddamned bear! I'm sure I have this somewhere on my tapes... Classic.
yes, respect
Alright let's stop the hemoragy, i fixed the title and the release date.
hitch: I'd still like to hear what Alien has to say on it. Cracktros are often reused so the original intro may still be from 1982. On this site there is also a person who claims the intro was used first in 1982.
Also, in Freax, Tomcat quotes an interview with MWS/Radwar in the paperzine Illegal (issue 30, 1988) where MWS states that the German Cracking Service started cracking around 82/83, so the year 1982 could be right.
Quote:
This intro was used 1982 first. As far as I remember HERO was released by Lord Vader/Plutonium Crackers (PC)) in 1984. Look at Lord Vader 01 intro. All this BCS,Lord Vader,PC,Cracking Force Berlin,Antitrax people are the same small bunch. Cops have been confused too. :=)

There was no c64 in Europe before 1983 (and it was released in the US at the end of 82).
The file is the same that can be found in the HERO game, check the csdb link.

hitch: do you even read what I quoted a few messages up, Alien said in an interview that a father of a classmate of him who worked at apple could get one in 1982.
Secondly, there is also the original 1982 version at CSDb.
In fact, some commentors on the HERO page are also referring to that 1982 intro.

That certainly doesn't mean that intro was made in 1982 (in fact that proves it wasn't).

Are you trying to ignore all those who're seriously doubting about the year ?
Also the binary file referenced in the pouet's link is from 1984. There's zero proof that it was made in 1982. Facts first.
So YOU are the ones to blame for all of this!
Alright stop changing the date back to 82, the referenced file IS from 1984, do you understand what that means ?
The H.E.R.O. release at CSDb is a fake, some dork placed the intro in front of a JEDI crack to throw mud. What are you trying to achieve? You're simple acts barely raise an eyelid, you're a small fish in a big pond. Item locked. Comment here.
So finally who's that weirdo who go to the extend of creating a fake release to raise suspicion ?
And what's the link with general zoff ?
And what's the link with general zoff ?
h.e.r.o added to csdb is faked bcoz some guy wants to know some oldschool people info. lol :D
why would BCS recrack some game if there was fresh games coming from every window and door? seriously. believe yourself, not the internet!
just give the small fishes a release from 1982 with the intro on then
For the history book
have to second hollowman here... let's trust facts rather than 25 year-old memories
fuck yeah ... was pater becker much later ?
@all: Talked to Antiram, JEDi, KBR and GCS. Nobody ever knew BCS at all! BCS simply was nothing! Ahem.... we talk about 83-85!
@Alien: stop talking crap at all! You might recall that I visited you in Berlin! It is obvious that Berlin never played a certain role in the c64-scene as it was isolated from the rest of the republic. The only one attending the 2nd line of the scene was CFB as a member of FCG. Give a proof or respect the old-ones! You simply didn`t start before 86 and you don´t have any idea about oldschool as well. We believe in friendship and deep respect of long-gones! Don´t fake history! Perservere on the place you belong to, independent of what you do nowadays. This is an advice and please dare to come to Radwar 2008 as the true oldschoolers will be there... Nice discussions! *;) You won´t have to send email in avoidance to meet me again as you did in front of Evoke 2006! Signed, c64allstars! You might recall, what you did! Any balls left?

well, just look at the picture format ;)
it was made with a c64 gfx program which came out in 84 ;)
that tells it all.

Hi,
My old nick was don, and I was always close to/part of PC, BCS, CFB, and
Antitrax. My first crack was from 1983 and it wasn't one of the first
ones done by the people from Berlin. Most intros were used often and
changed over the years. Sometimes there were no intros preceeding a
release. It was just a disk formatted with a name like PC:
http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=19130
The bear, done by my friends, was already there when I did my first
scene stuff and I don't think it was a pic from the start. I have no
knowledge about the contemporary scene and looking at this thread and
csdb I'd like to keep this unchanged. Alien took me to a Berlin scene
meet in 2005 so a few people can confirm I exist. :)
jf2071 = -nd-!:
There are people and groups who don't support your acquisition of data.
The old C64 scene from Berlin doesn't care if fanboys confirm or deny
its existence. This I know. Go on with creating a lot of accounts and
manipulative mud-slinging. So if BCS and other groups didn't exist your
book would be easier to write. Be happy. All this is unadulterated filth.
Who are you and what is your achievement on the scene?
The Captain Kidd (legendary Eagle Soft) comment targeted at you, exposes
your system:

It depends on the person and the intensity which is being used to sneak
around. I do not tend to support unknown lamers in finally getting their
glorious days by riding other persons property into the public of this
world nowadays. Just take my opinion into your considerations and you
will agree that it is in each individuals choise. Some old sceners still
like to be in the middle of the honorous light - others did not even
chose that when their alias still got prayed upon during their active
days. Besides, these thoughts of mine should explain that I do not like
people like ND, sending me stupid mails with a stupid text like 'am I
right' or 'I mean you are Captain Kidd'.
Due to my last lyrics on here I just got another stupid text from ND in
my private message-box saying 'leave me alone and swim in that ugly
csdb-halftruth-shit!' honestly: how do you react if you get such stupid
messages? If you still have just a bit of pride for our previous work -
you would react in the same way I do and did. I know we do not agree on
certain topics, but I guess we do now.

It is really esprit to read those lines from Don about my person using fake accounts to express my own opinion. I can personally assure you that I officially can militate my opinion and can attend to it my own name.
First of all: Nice to see you posting your first crack from 1983, packed with Timecruncher v5.0 released in 1988. All I can mention is that the game got infact released by Kotzbrocken in 1985 (the copyright is misleading) like you can check in it's crack at $0200. Let me allow one question: Where is the beef?
Next of all this entire debate about the origin of the BCS intro has been led by a user on CSDb. He compared the display code in this certain intro with the Paint Magic Version by JEDI. The result is that the display code used is copied from that certain paint program. So how comes that the socalled 1982 intro contains this code? Did the programmer of Paint Magic (which is NOT from 1982) copied the code from Berlin Cracking Service or vice versa?
During the same process the same person has uncovered several recracks by BCS and the latter Antitrax. This includes original releases by JEDI, Antiprotect and the american cracking group XPB.
What this debate led into was some wild claims that some weirdo would have been manufactored "fake releases" to "place mud on Alien". He directly hinted into my and into the direction of The Movers, which are infamy incriminations. The Movers and me just commented this 1982 affair, as we already pointed out several flaws concerning Aliens stories in the past.
We however did this in EYE-TO-EYE.
Everybody can draw conclusions on their own considering that Alien has given an interview which describes the entire affair in a good modality:
http://www.jonatanforsberg.net/krams/46alien-pcinterview.htm
"A positive moment for me was when the father of a classmate who was working for Apple, was able to through his connections, obtain a C64 on Christmas 1982."
How can be Alien so sure about the release date of this intro if he ostensible wasn't even involved in the process of creating it?
How can the intro be coded in 1982 if Alien (founding member of PC/BCS/Antitrax) got his C64 in December 1982?!?
Next to it even the best connected ones weren't able to obtain a computer officially presented in Las Vegas on January 1982 in prototype revision at this timeframe.
There are several of these deceptions you are running in while checking the actual releases by these groups and the statements Alien has conducted in this certain interviews or other public expressions.
One good example of many deceptions is one which involves Hanse, a game obviously published by Ariolasoft in 1986, which Alien claims to have cracked in 1982: http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=18888 like his own conducted CSDb entry inevitably proves.
All critical voices and debates of releases and the original release date of this intro have resulted in personal attacks and defamation of involved persons like you can read in the CSDb thread of the Movers.
http://noname.c64.org/csdb/group/?id=2014
All questions concerning proofs and concurrent evidence for all the various claims by Alien have never been answered.
If and to the extent to which I made my comment were some lines about the Movers. I underlined that The Movers have nothing to do with any fakes releases. It got even proved that these releases are validated with the years the group BCS has been active. Nevertheless it is important to point out that no one has found a legit release with the Berlin Bear intro which was NO recrack of any JEDI, Antiprotect or Crackmen Crew version.
Considering the matter of fact that you personally attack me and take a quote of Captain Kidd / ESI without even knowing the background or being involved with this matter, just shows me that these words involved with you are hitting the bullseye. While you are at it, you could ask this certain person for the entire mail traffic. This should prove that his utterances are factoid. Besides that they are no topic here, in contrast to your claims that me or The Movers should have faked releases to throw mud at BCS.

Very amusing little discussion here.

man, i visited my cousin that often these days and i got more and more interested in those cracktros...and 25+ years later i am still a scener !
