Design is maybe a bit too strong of a term! Good for a first one (I think?), but I have a principle of not thumbing up any pure size limited fractals in most cases.

Thank you for comments. This intro was a crash course on x86 asm, pixel shaders, ray casting, and also on related mathematics and arithmetic coding. I definitely now agree that pure fractal does not constitute an interesting intro (even though figuring out the correct distance field is itself an interesting exercise!). I look forwards to attending future compos, hopefully with more interesting content.
The source code is available at github for someone interested in using dx9, hlsl and Crinkler 2.0 together. Intro used hitchhikr's 1kpack example as base framework but was later converted to Crinkler 2.0 for better compression results.
