Happy-1998-Tro by The Unstoppable Hacker Bunch & Inside
Last-minute (actually, last 45 minutes) documentation: About the sound: It's soundblaster only. Jeez. Why? Because I have no time to install a GUS-supporting player that works correctly anymore. And no, I can't use midas. Why not? Well, this demo is coded in BP70, which is not supported by new versions of midas and version 0.4 sucks bigtime. Comprendre? It does support sbpro/sb16/sb32 etc. though. Oh, speaking about the sound, the sound system is coded by Charles Attard (Charles.Attard@bigfoot.com), so go and shoot him if it doesn't work. (Charles thinks: "well, thanks but no thanks for crediting me." *grin*) Problems? Ok, this demo might not work. Here are some things you might want to try: - install a better vesa-driver (for instance, the latest version of univbe) - reboot without expanded memory managers like EMM386 or QEMM. The demo is supposed to work loads better when only himem.sys is installed - add D=64 at the end of the EMM386 line in your config.sys Here are some options you might want to try: -VESA forces the demo to run, ignoring the vesa-detection -NOSOUND beautiful silence -Fxxxxx set sound frequency to xxxxx -8BIT set sound to 8-bit -MONO set sound to mono so the line 1998 -VESA -F8000 -8BIT -MONO skips vesa detection and gives terrible soundquality. While you're at it, why don't you add -NOSOUND too? *hehehe* Well, a happy 1998 to ya all! Gotta release a demo! The Watcher
