Hardcore Amiga demos
category: general [glöplog]
Like the fool that I am I've committed to doing a stream of oldschool Amiga demos with a hardcore theme from 9 to 10 Am local eastern Australian time Sunday morning. I've got Mina Omistan by Movement, and Deep by CNCD cued up for this event. I could probably throw a couple of our System of Sound demos. But other than Jesus on E's, what other demos should I add to this playlist? 242 and Nine Fingers probably fit too, but anything with some soundtrack in the genre of gabber would surely go down a treat with this audience. Any recommendations?
oh, tune into this event on https://www.twitch.tv/theseua

really most 90s demos/intros from da jormas
Yes. This is perfect! Thanks, and perhaps some Polish Amiga demos too? Poland has some crazy artistic styles that really push my buttons in a good way. But I am less familiar with their scene than others.
cool, I think I just came. Also I just remembered this demo

and the group Pas Maters. cool, I think I have enough leads now to fill out an hour program without having to resort to playing JoE's for twenty something minutes.
But don't let that stop you guys from recommending more :)

That one is just noise, whereas this one was just strange:

But this one was nice:

This is the most "hardcore" demo I know, that could be appreciated by those who love such stuff and they wouldn't think it was a retro computer production!
dont wanna be the genre-bitch but... rave != hardcore though, so that kind of excludes jesus on e's, 9 fingers and all that jazz if you're anal about it.
rave aka "breakbeat hardcore" is known as hardcore in uk
thought that mix by randall is mix of breakbeat and jungle ;)
https://www.pouet.net/groups.php?which=1552 <- google led me to this group who share (or are an franchise of) the archetypical (imo) hardcore record label.
I skipped though a couple of the entries on that list, and it sounds like hardcore to my ear. Also: Mr roboto: I really admire your ambition. Your comment here has made me think there is potentially an interesting story to be told by tracing back the origins of electronic music through scene releases.

If we really want to get anal there's no such genre as "rave". There's hardcore and there's gabber, sometimes user interchangeably thanks to historical reasons.
The dutch would use 'UK Rave' to distinguish UK hardcore from gabber, but the dutch also used 'mellow' to describe the club sound, so don't believe a word they say.
Also on topic, i guess some of the boozedrome invites count.

And one Boozedrome invitation without Boozedrome in the title :)

First that comes to mind when saying Crazy Polish demo must be good ol' Technological Death By Mad Elks
Other than the name...that isn't really hardcore Magic :D
speaking of magic and gabber
