who was part of the jury btw ?
Most of us are already sleeping with a katana under our mattress. Too late!
new short ceremony was good.
having no Best Noise Demo -category is still a shame.
some of the categories made me think that i'd rather see just one prod per one group in one category.

yep .. cant mention it enough ... the whole show step up to a much higher level with the short and more precise execution ..
only thing i would like is something like a lifetime achivement award ... so for the fun of it ;) ..
.. and i can only agree with nosfe on the "best noise demo" award ..

Actually, I would like trace to say something now :)
one point of minor ciriticism perhaps... i am still wondering why those nice chairs in front of the stage had to be replaced with the shitty beerbenches for the awards ceremony. at the end of the already shortened ceremony, my back hurt like hell and my legs were sleeping- beerbenches are no good for >6ft people unless there's also a beertable to cling to... ;)
Agree with havoc. The nominees are the ppl you should treat nicely, so get us some sofas next time! ;)
Thanks for the feedback, fellas. We'll have also a poll, like many previous years, on the Scene.org Awards website - together with the jury comments, in 1-2 weeks or so. But feel free to share your feelings and post bucket pictures in this thread as well.
sure thing!

I also think this is a very good idea. This price should be given people who have been supporting the scene for a long time (eg. more than 10 years). There are some people around who have been productive in the scene for the better part of their life. They may not have produced single outstanding demos but high quality throughout the years. Also people like partyorganizers, diskmagwriters, webmasters etc. may be eligible for this award.
"one hit wonders" should be excluded.. for example Future Crew may have left an everlasting impression in the scene but actually they quit after a relatively short time.
Andromeda would be a perfect contender.
Or some of its members.. I think the awars (or maybe parts of it) should be also open to other people who did a lot for the scene. For example webmasters and partyorganizers (two obvious examples :) ).
With "other people" i am referring to non code/gfx/msx..
Um... Havok, the benches were there from the start UNTIL the ceremony, then they were removed and chairs put there. I dunno why.
I do know I spent one of the executable music compos on the floor, getting a full-body massage from the subwoofers, looking at the underside of the BENCHES (: And that was on Saturday before the compos. Also we were chased off the 3rd row of BENCHES cuz the announcement said that the first _2_ rows were needed, so we moved to the third, and then we moved and got chairs. No big deal.
Now for a tiny, tiny bit of criticism: It did seem to me, at the start, that the first few awards seemed to be "MOVE IT MOVE IT MOVE IT WE'RE ON A SCHEDULE HERE!" and I was a TAD concerned it would be done in 15 minutes. It may have just been me, and probably is - but please do give the first few awards as much attention as the last few. They're all worthy winners.
Oh and as far as the awards being wrong, of course they were. Ikanim should win EVERY AWARD, EVERY YEAR. PERIOD. (Until I decide otherwise.)

No Stelthz, you are not getting an award for being a dull troll. Sorry.
Also okkie will be specifically excluded for his life long work of ..... nothing ??? ..

Well, somehow i wonder who the trolls in this thread are. Because I think my suggestion does actually make a lot of sense. If you thought for longer than a split second you may find some people who may actually deserve such an award.
I did more in the scene than you, you faggot. Now go away!
Pure impulse control..
Pure=Poor.. arg.
Lifetime achievement is the single most stupid award we could ever give. It says so starting from the first word. What lifetime are we talking about. It's not sesame street you know.
wait
How am I gonna win "Best Lifetime Cookie Monster Impression" then?

I'm with knos. The scene's not much older then 20 years, awards for lifetime achivement are usually given out to people of the age of 50 onwards.
But since even bad ideas become real due to "popular demand" I'd like to give you at least one guy who's worth such an award:
Michael Menz or, as his fans call him, Jesus Crest dedicated his life to the demoscene. In the early days of the scene he started as a trader and later became very active in public relations for the scene. With several radio shows he brought the scene into the focus of a wider audience and with his demo shows he gave the young generation the opportunity to experience the best demos from a whole era. As a tribute on that impressive work Speckdrumm awarded him "mustache ruler of the party" twice, till today a lonely record in the scene.

.. maybe "lifetime" rather refers to the lifetime of the scene? Well, if you think beyond polemics you know how it is meant. Even you, knos... It may have been bad choice of words, though.
Madenman: Good example. Although Crest is not somebody I would personally lift on a pedestal as figurehead of the scene.
