Even playing Wii => still gamerlamer
category: general [glöplog]
I still don't get the point to own a computer in this period or not, i said in my post that according to tomaes FAQ (check the link), cracking scene which seems to be the base of demoscene started with videogame, not that i was there to see it happenning..Oh no wait..i must be retarded ;)
And my name is ne..i mean, my name is silkut, i have too much respect for TBL to take their demo name. (in fact they would send their hitmans).

And a few sceners playing WII on a demoparty because it's a cool new gadget and fun to play it does not make our world go down in flames. After they're done they'll go back to being creative and productive themselves.
exactly my point. i do not see things black and white, and there's a lot of creativity-boost when people relax and have some easy and clean fun.
it's just... i've lost already some sceners to the games... it's painful for me, ya know? thinking that you know someone pretty well and then they get addicted to some game and then next time you see them they don't even know which demo won last breakpoint or who won the scene.ORG awards...
whatever. i never said that dandelion was right. this isn't even my quest. but one thing i tell you: be careful there.
Silkcut: just to make sure, my message was aimt at Dandelion of course, not you ;)
Now: Please make some new demos with that cool Twilight effects from Zelda...
@keops: sure ! Do you RLY think i'm retarded ? haha....yes that's true..
this thread makes me wonder, actually.. am i really the only scener who hardly ever plays games?
No you're not. I don't play much anything outside work..
yeah I made those on 4kb
skrebbel, actually it's quite funny. I own game machines and follow game news but I hardly ever play games. Maybe a couple of days every 3-4 months.
I've been laming since '82.

skrebbel: No, you are not. I'd love playing all kind of games, but well, there ALWAYS is something even better/more fun that I could do instead. If Duke Nukem Forever ever sees the light, I'll however will sure play it ;)
jeenio: I guess that's a quite normal thing - after all, a lot of those "oldschool" sceners that used to be active 10 years ago or so today spend most time watching TV, playing games and stuff like that. For some people creativity is just a phase in their life, and after that they'll become consumers again. And yeah, it sucks losing sceners like this.

Would it be remotely possible that maybe some sceners are working on commercial games and are still being creative in that scene? I think it's funny how some people fail to see that there could be anything beyond the demoscene.
Evil: nice set up. Arcade machines rule! But I bet if I had one it would only sit around..
ravity: grab pain #58 (12/06), there is an article about sceners working in game industry
I would like to report that I have quit the scene, so that I can play games all day long instead.
Fuck the scene, it has died a million times already! ;)

Oh, ah congratulations to Dandelion for the least thought out post of the year! Ever!

melwyn: about "people sitting in front of their computers 24/7 playing same level of whatever-happens-to-be-most-popular-FPS at the moment", i have to confess that sometimes it feels good to have 'unlimited' day/night hours to play a FPS in one go without being interrupted by work, family, gf or any real life responsablity :D
Although it's obviously impolite and stewpid to do so in demoparties, i totally understand those people at standard lanparties :p
