Rating music in pouet.net style
category: general [glöplog]
In another thread, the idea came up with rating music in pouet.net style. I began to think about this an since traxinspace is dead, there is (in my opinion) no alternative, no "home" for the module scene.
But, there's the possibility to rate songe on nectarine (www.scenemusic.net). So my question: Is there really a need to this. And: What would you expect / like it to be/have?

no
This topic has already been discussed to death nyuh.
if you wanna rate music nectarine-style, go to nectarine
Traxinspace is dead ? Noooooooooo!!!
Sorry. My idea was a bit vaguely formulated.
I want to start a page by myself. A new one.
Asyd: Well, I think so, since the latest news is "traxinspace mourns loss of life" of the 11th september which was half a year ago. There's nothing new on traxinspace. It still exists but does not really live.

it would be great !!! i really would like to see this kind of page... but, to reduce this a little, it must be just containing only group releases, not just every bit of tune just someone once did... pouet-style, you could include covers and infofile there...
It wouldn't be a bad idea, but brace yourself for about a kazillion-jillion music entries. That's what usually kills off most music projects: the enormeous amount of it all.

hmmmm
http://www.modarchive.com
Should be an alternative good enough. If not you are welcome to suggest or help change it.
The only exception is that we are not accepting mp3 songs.

hmmm sorry, that might be a nice database but it's absolutely not what i which as a pouet-like music platform. my "dream" is a portal where you can discuss music releases. and i mean musik _releases_ not single files where you dont even know where they come from and who did them...
nevertheless, respect for the modarchive...

Dipswitch: You are talking out of my soul (don't know if one can say that..). That is exactly what I want to do.
Group releases: You mean the music appearing on net labels? I don't know this thing very much, but as I am not in this "business" I'm not very a fan of it..
I thought of doing some "great" database query stuff such as: "If you like this song, you probably will also like that" (that is linked with rating of course). That is done that one can explore the zillion music entries (that can't be avoided, I think).
Modarchive is great as an archive, I think! So cooperation would be great.. I thought something like pouet has a cooperation with scene.org.
A more general question: Are there still many module trackers? Or did the whole scene just switch to mp3?

modarchive is jam-packed with crap tunes and morons in the forums.

Yes there are still several trackers active. But there arent many high quality releases now as there were for a couple of years ago.
