Bonus intro bits

category: general [glöplog]

Watching "So Abstract World" made me think how cool it is when people take the time to package demos nicely, with some time spent making the intro dialog different, bonus bits for the info (VIP2 springs to mind first so it goes in this post), cool things going on in the loading screen, and so on. So to everybody that takes the extra effort, thanks! :)

Anyone else got any good ones?

Hidden/extra parts of course. :)

I agree. For nice loading screens I think 003's loading screen is really cool with its reaction diffusion effect.

I always liked the loading screen for Cascada's Cronologia.
Slick looking

pushing the trend a bit too far, we will end up with full-fledged intros as loading screens for demos or intros ;)

Amiga demos (especially megademos) often had loading screens with effects and stuff. Plus, many sections could have values manipulated by the viewer. For example, sine bobs variables could be controlled on many demos. I miss those semi-interactive demos.
karnof: you must be thinking of rampage by tek (http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=6476).

i personally liked the treacl megademo loader which started with a long sampled speech right after inserting the disc.

I liked very much when a demo has a nice electronic note attached in it, like in Crystal Dreams 2, or others,.. this thing is happening very frequently in the C64 demos for some reasons, quite rarelly seen on PC or other scenes though,. it's a great pro with each demo! Nice logic I sometimes would like to make for my future demos too..

Optimus, notes are rarely seen in the PC-scene because PC-users tend to have a text-viewer.

Also a nice thing about c64 demos: ASCII-Art in the directory-listing of the disk(s), which most emulators tend to destroy btw. (so better use ccs64 for that..). One of those things (besides notefiles) that makes no sense on PCs though...

Hey, thanks for all the viewing tips :) I didn't have secret parts in mind when I posted this, but it was a good reminder of how cool they are :)
