who needs food if you have

I'd like to point out that the UK has both the best and worst food in europe. (Although I've not been to Finland yet)

The pubmeet will include a venture into the finer side of british food, at an indian restaurant.

chirac's quite up to date, however - i mean back when finland still had carrols he'd have definitely been wrong!

So in what way is indian food british? ;)

I really don't get why people think Finland has bad food. Maybe they've got the worst of it. I know I've got lot worse food in other countries :)

psonic: Just because some french oversea territories belong to the EU doesn't mean the same goes for the Commonwealth. Indian food doesn't count as european food even when it's served (t)here. ;)

teel, well i guess it's that finns sortof always considered cellphones, booze and socialism more interesting things than good food, resulting in the 'typical finnish cuisine' being sortof limited to whatever comes with the HK Sininen logo.

Indian Food Is Teh Bestest British Food \o/

In the same way Chinese food is Dutch. Loads of people here will happily claim they've just had Chinese food after consuming their "nasi goreng" or "babi pangang", you can buy those at any Chinese restaurant in the country. But in fact the recipe for both dishes is Indonesian and it's unlikely to find them on the card of any Chinese restaurant outside Holland. Certainly not in China, there you would probably have to find and Indonesian restaurant.

Something similar can be said about "Indian food in Britain". I've never noticed much difference in the few Indian restaurants I've visited in various places in the UK, but they're probably quite different from restaurants in India itself. Or Pakistan. Or well... you know what I mean ;)

Also, a lot of the "indian" dishes you get in an indian restaurant here were invented in britain, from locally available ingredients, for the british taste. Chinese food is the same, but there's more chinese dishes in a chinese restaurant, and its a lot easier to get "proper" chinese food than indian.

"english food is rubbish, french is the best in the world" - what is this, 1977? i know the french are usually a few years behind the times (on my last visit there i actually saw teenagers still wearing shell suits), but this is ridiculous! =)
