out of pure curiosity: what about them modchips? I've heard ms installed some sorta anti-chipping shit into newer boxes..

um well, there was just a new bios-crc or whatever, but that has been circumvented already. and now it seems you can't access "xbox live!" (online gaming) with a modded xbox, but I assume that restriction will also be short-lived.

we should start an xbox scene... democoding has been dead for years (only design demos nowadays) because of different hardware on different PC's etc. Could be nice to revive the old democoding spirit

from the demoscene point of view i don't think this restriction to XBOX LIVE! means anything...
...unless you want to make some massively multiwatcher online demo of course... :))

..or a demo that dynamically downloads some data..

Your software will need to have an xbox-live-approved Title ID to access Xbox Live, so it's out of question for demomaking anyway.

If you want to download content, just, well, code your own TCP/IP stack (if you don't rip the Xbox libs) and use the NIC on your own :)
