about glops: I've heard in some book about arnal ( by the way, the communist comic drawer arnal was italian.) That pifou said "glop", because its a greeting to segar, the original author of popeye: swee'pea, popeye's son, also said "glop" the same way, as confirmed here
... so "glop" existed before pifou and is more international than it seems !!!
