Slummy: Not really - I didn't come up with that naming scheme. Invert-flashing and "delay-rotation/slime" was something that kinda just became "those excess effects" back then. ;)

gloom:
Sorry, but Slummy isn't as oldschool as you and irokos, he wasnt a demoscener when Excess was the groundbreaking demogroup.

I always call squiddies the "Norwegian effect", especially if they're gray...

I was asking Grok to find my old demos and it came with this gem :)
And I wonder where it got the toing-toing effect. Probably some old joke in the greek scene for some effect namings I did.

Unnamed “Toing Toing” Effects Demo (circa 2001–2002)
Details: Referenced in the same Digital Nexus 2001 write-up, this seems to be a playful demo with quirky effect names like “toing toing effects” and “eggball mapping.” Likely a mix of 2D animations or simple 3D experiments.

Source: Your own words in the scene report—sounds like a WIP or party-submitted piece.

Notes: The whimsical naming (e.g., “ToingToing3d” subroutines) suggests it was a lighthearted effort, possibly unfinished.

Both Toing-Toing effects and Eggball mapping are actual named effects in the Atsou crap I did on Digital Nexus 2001 btw :)

There's a demo called 'Arrested Development' I heard of, Revision 2023. Makes a fool of most entries when it comes to tech-tech coding.
