hm, There are not almost those who make a demo in Japan.
However, there are many people who see it.
Temporarily, even if an individual and a group manufacture much demo, there are nothings that advertise.
It may spread, if there are some causes.
However, the present condition is in a state without anything...
The direction where a Japanese manufactures a game rather than a demo is popular.:(

judging from recent japanese console titles I'd say there's some excellent code out there, but they haven't grasped the demo culture bit I guess ...

Eye, GOT:
I've long thought that the lack of commercial venues are what made the scenes grow. If you're a competent programmer in Japan, you will soon be sucked into the industry and be put to programming the latest and greatest strip mahjong game, whereas a Slovak coder can spend years in front of his Speccy churning out better and better codes without anyone noticing. That would explain the relative lack of scene activities in the UK, too (though this differs from platform to platform), and the utter lack of US made demos.
Still, why aren't we seeing any demos from Mongolia or Thailand? Is it because they are stuck with Nintendos with keyboards and PCs?

It's interesting and sympathetic to see one-two obsessed freaks in countries without scene, alone, doing stuff. Have you read the article "The scene is I?" in Attitude 7 about why there was never ever a scene in Romania btw? That was preety interesting and funny too, the guy who wrote it must be the only scener there for sure :)
