- demo Windows Dreamchild by Andromeda Software Development [web]
- This should've ranked higher. The design, art, music, and pacing on this demo are extremely tight. The effects are highly stylized and original, and the colors, like Edge of Forever, are beautiful. While I can't recall a specific visual in this demo that burns itself into your brain (like the fish with the glowing eyes or the hand of God in EoF), the presentation is extremely consistent, impressive, and most of all, doesn't drag on and bore you. Excellent work.

- wild Wild LCD megademo by Hedelmae [web]
- Very original idea that really captures the spirit of the compo, by doing something pretty impressive on a very unimpressive and unorthodox display. The scroller was hard to read due to the inherent properties of the LCD, but it sure made the plasma look good. Nice work.

- wild Animation/Video Grand Theft by Otherside
- I preferred the LCD Megademo (I agree w/ Phoenix that the category should be for entries using special hardware), but what I liked about Grand Theft is that it made fun of all the problems with that game. I must be one of the five people on Earth who didn't think GTA3 was the Second Coming, so I got a good laugh out of this. The opening run animation, the phone booth sequence where the canned anim "pops", the unwieldy sniper rifle, etc. They nailed it.

- demo Linux Windows MacOSX PPC VARIFORM by Kewlers [web]
- Perfect sync with one of the best soundtracks I've heard in years... I show all my friends this one, and my oldschool b-boy friends especially go crazy over the music. Effects are also well-executed and continue to build and build throughout. I like the voice at the beginning, although the voice used for the greets could use some tweaking. Definitely deserving of the awards its received -- it's a crowd-pleaser that respects demo roots.

- demo Windows fr-025: the.popular.demo by Farbrausch [web]
- First time I saw the room with the colored light panels, I nearly s**t my pants. :) I love this demo because sceners and nonsceners can enjoy it. Beautiful, tightly directed, and the scenes are nicely varied. Very professional-sounding music, too -- great work all-around.

- demo Windows Legomania by Doomsday
- Demos like this always get a love it/hate it response (like SOTA, fr025, etc.), but it is entertaining, and does have some nice effects in-between the Lego portions. Pacing is a little slow at times and the text isn't all that compelling, but maybe we'll see it tightened up in a possible final version later. It didn't help that I hated The Matrix Reloaded, but it managed to mimic the hundred-Agent-Smith scene pretty well (especially the sound during bullet time). Opening scene reminded me of Le Petit Prince... maybe that was the point? A lot of the other demos were more impressive to me technically and from a pure demo perspective, but this was still pretty nice.
