This is one of my favoritest flat polygon/design/abstract/e.t.c. intros! And you know how much I don't like them,.. but this one had something special and interesting on it! The whole idea,. particles moving all around in the demo, going inside, tunnels, moving until the go around a sphere,.. and at the end it returns as a Deja Vu to the beginning screen!
It's diferrent! Halcyon may be doing Strange/Abstract demos, but they know what they are doing!

i still dont understand the big deal about this, well, its nice code, and nice musaq but it definaty lacks style and design, its even very ugly if i may say so my self, one thing is kool tough, and that is that it kind'o loops

I just took a small DOS-excursion to refresh my memory on Hplus, and I still don't understand what the fuzz is all about. OK, so it's got some nice, blue particles, and an expermimental soundtrack by brothomStates (i suspect that my SBOS made it sound even more experimental than it really is), but the textures are ugly, and I don't really see how this can be defined as good design. I'm not going as far as saying that it sucks, it's an OK intro by Halcyon. Their best prod is still Saint.
Hmm. Well I'LL give it a rulez. :) I don't always like the flat-shade/particle artsy stuff, but this one just works. And no dumb poetry to get in the way. :) Use headphones, or turn up the music enough so you can just barely hear the dissonant chords in the music.

Now, that's an intro that displays excellent design, without cool gfx. It has little colors (grey, blue and black) but the idea is awesome, the music can make aphex twin sweat, it has incredible sync. Definately one of the best (if not THE best) intro for the PC.

i just do think that nothing can be done after such a production... i just can watch it all day long, and cry after each session. This is a fucking MASSIVE artwork. Please do forget the other intro, they'll always look ridiculous compared to H+. (Note for win2k users, i'm currently working on a windows version, but i still dunno if i will be able to translate 10000 Tasm lines to c code, it's a foking lots of work) ;)

Even if I usually don't like these flat/wire/cube/designwise demos,. this one touched me, I don't know why (Halcyon definitelly rulez even when it's up to code any abstract style demo you could thing about!!!)

Probably the most overrated intro ever! Ugly, boring intro with some shitty experimental noise. It got some design that gets sucked up by trash.

i just love this one, even though i haven't been able to see it for a while now.
what is worthing attention too, is how hplus is "directed". if you think about it, no other intro has so intersting moves and takes of camera. with a perfect synchronization, it makes eye-candy from this intro. it looks like that synchronization makes its much better than briliant but just pure technique.

just watch it in the dark, not with headphones, but with some decent hi-fi at a quite strong volume. screen is less important, the bigger is the better of course, but best have a nice audio than video.
don't watch it a row of demos like a demoshow, when you're expecting it to be like the rest. better watch it after making something your eyes weren't focused on, like back from a club/rave, back from having a talk ..
don't watch it if too many people are here to avoid interference.
gus or sb sound different, i like both versions. gus sounds cleaner, sb sounds more precise.
it really can't be described with words, it's such a unique experience. i often ask myself why am i in love for this. yeah, it doesn't look nice in fact, those textures are really ugly, the color of the particles is just some pure rgb blue, the 3d engine doesn't look clean, it sounds like underwater recorded.
but each time i watch hplus those facts just became just details.
just a calm particle flow entering a box, then inside, with some pure wonderfull camera focusing, not at something particular that's not displayed but inside the particle flow.
and the music really starting, a tunnel then, music, particles, tunnel and camera moving in a perfect dance. transfiguration, a corridor, great lighting effects, lights notes played and then the masterpiece: particles arround that sphere. and the final transition finnishing over an unexpected end : halcyon hplus(+)

i remember seeing this for the first time (in 98), at some point i started feeling dizzy and realized that i had been holding my breath from the very beginning of the intro.

it works in dosbox. :) it's just very, very slow. runs fine under win98 too, so maybe give "compatibility mode" in xp a try?
compatability mode doesn't work (it generates the usual illegal operation shit), dosbox is too slow (or was with 6.0), and i haven't seen it for years now. Divx or port is needed, and its getting desparate.

the video ends when the intro quits to dos by itself, after displaying the halcyon(+)hplus screen for several seconds. If that's not happening, make sure you have a good xvid codec installed

hard to describe.. this is some abstract shit! don't think this is the best prod ever (the code probably isn't the most complex thing known to man), but it's worth a thumbs up imho.

I think a win32 port will be difficult without sources. and a direct hack from asm seems to be difficult (i try some decompile but the exe seems to be compressed).

The exe is compressed, I suppose, by somekinda Halcyon internal compressor used in Blitz productions =/...
I tried to hack this one, but as I was not too fmiliar with asm stuff I gave up.

HPlus is good 64k. Mysterious blue-substance. The polygons protecting the core-breach look cool. Had to inspire Andromedary 4k etc many winner-intros to come.

For me, this is probably the best intro-song ever done. But, I like others too (Pager-11 etc). But this is a proper multi-part, really subtle track. 17 years later, still unequalled.
